So, recently...Sean and I have been trying to figure out our finances. We are actually doing pretty well, but Sean's scholarship isn't going to cover his Spring/Summer semester. Which means that we will no longer get a food budget every month and we will have to cover tuition ourselves. I kept thinking that if we didn't have so much debt that we had to make payments on we could survive a little better (ie. Car payments, credit card..etc.)
Well a couple months ago in institute we were talking about paying an honest Fast and Tithe. I have never had a problem with paying my tithing but I will have to admit...I never thought about paying a fast offering. I just always thought that was something my parents did haha. So I talked to Sean about it and we decided that we are grown up now and we should be paying our own fast offerings (Sean was better at doing this than I was, but it wasn't something we were faithful at since we have been married). So regardless of our financial worries, we have been paying our fast offerings every month. And let me tell ya...I thought I was grown up when I got a Costco card, but this felt even MORE adult like :)
Just a couple weeks ago I received an email from and insurance adjuster about a car accident I was in back in October saying that he will be contacting me about a settlement...which was a shock to me since I never even got a lawyer. I talked to the chiropractor I work for about it and he was saying that I would probably get at most, $1000. Umm...hello?? YES I'll take a thousand! Anything actually would be awesome since I never even thought I would get any money at all. So I talked to the insurance guy (through email) and told him how I have been feeling since the accident and he told me he got approved to offer me $4000!!! I had to re read that about 4 times and then I was yelling at Sean to come look at it to make sure I was reading it right...and sure enough, I got the check in the mail this week!!!
(Now for the testimony part) At first I didn't really place this as a blessing from Heavenly Father...I thought I was just lucky! Didn't take me long to realize though how truly blessed we were! During the Sunday afternoon session of General Conference, Elder Carl B. Pratt was talking about Fast offerings and Tithing and told the story about the family who paid theirs even though they had other finances to cover and ended up receiving the exact amount they needed to cover the rest. He then gave caution to everyone saying that even though you pay your fast and tithes you won't always be blessed with money, but sometimes will be blessed in other aspects of your life. Right then I turned to Sean and said "WE GOT BLESSED WITH MONEY FOR OURS!!" And I knew from that moment on that this was the way we were blessed for paying ours and knowing that everything would work out. And let me tell ya...IT DID! I am able to almost completely pay off my car and credit card, which will save us about $400 a month!!
I love the gospel and all the blessings we receive from following the council of our prophets. I can look back on my life and see even more how truly blessed I have been.

What a wonderful testimony builder. It's a great feeling to have your cars paid off. You crack me up with the feeling Adult like....getting a costco card...and on that note, Heavenly Father knows who you are, and that you recognize blessings in your life. It pays to live right doesn't it!!?
